  5.      Thank you  for selecting  PixCat, another  amazing product  from  MIDPA
  6.      Softworks.  PixCat is used for printing a catalog of all pictures in  a
  7.      NewsMaster(tm), PrintMaster(tm), Print Shop(tm), or New Print  Shop(tm)
  8.      graphics library.

  10.      To print the reference manual, you can "copy" it to your printer.   For
  11.      example, if it is on your "A" disk, you could print it by entering:

  13.                           copy a:pixcat.doc prn
  14.  
  15.      PixCat will run on IBM PCs,  ATs,  PS/2s and true compatibles.   PixCat
  16.      requires at least 256K of memory  and  MS DOS or PC DOS version 2.00 or
  17.      higher.  PixCat may run under other configurations but, those have  not
  18.      yet been tested.

  20.      If you are not sure whether PixCat will run on your machine, try it and
  21.      see what happens.

  23.      Files that should be on your disk include:
  24.  
  25.      PIXCAT.EXE      PixCat  program.   For those of  you that have  earlier
  26.                      versions,   this   replaces   both   PixCatPM.COM   and
  27.                      PixCatPS.COM.
  28.  
  29.      PIXCATBW.BAT    Invoke PixCat  in  "Black and White"  for those of  you
  30.                      with monochrome monitors.

  32.      PIXCAT.HLP      Data required by the PixCat help system.
  33.  
  34.      PIXCAT.CFG      The  PixCat  configuration  file.     This  "remembers"
  35.                      configuration information including  screen colors  and
  36.                      printer type.   If  this file  is not  in your  default
  37.                      directory,  PixCat  will  provide  default  colors  and
  38.                      assume you are using an  Epson FX+ type printer.   Once
  39.                      in PixCat, you can  adjust these parameters and  create
  40.                      or update this  file by using  the "Save  Configuration
  41.                      File" option  on  the main  menu.   This  replaces  any
  42.                      PIXCAT.CFG files from versions prior to 2.0.

  44.      PIXCAT.CFP      PixCat  printer configuration file.  This replaces  any
  45.                      earlier versions of PIXCAT.CFP.

  47.           *.CFP      (optional) Additional printer configuration files.

  49.      PIXCAT.DOC      The  PixCat  Reference  Manual.    Refer  to  this  for
  50.                      detailed reference.  The  PixCat screens are  generally
  51.                      self documenting via  the help facility  ("F1") so  you
  52.                      may not need to refer to this.

  60.      Ensure that the  DOS disk  and directory  path you  invoke PixCat  from
  61.      contains the  PIXCAT.HLP  file, all  "*.CFP"  file(s) and,  if  it  has
  62.      already been created, the PIXCAT.CFG configuration file.

  64.      Enter "pixcat" at the  Dos Prompt to invoke PixCat.  This  will display
  65.      the PixCat primary selection menu.

  67.      When configuring   PixCat   for    your printer,   please  remember  to
  68.      specify whatever your printer "thinks it is".  For example, if you have
  69.      an OKIDATA ML Printer with the IBM "Plug & Play" option, then configure
  70.      PixCat for an IBM Graphics Printer.   If  your  printer  is not  on the
  71.      printer configuration list,  you might try the  IBM  or Epson settings;
  72.      many printers emulate either the IBM or Epson printers.

  75.      Also, if you are upgrading from prior releases of PixCat, you will need
  76.      to erase your old PIXCAT.CFG file;  Beginning with version 2.0, the old
  77.      1.xx PixCat .CFG and .CFP files are obsolete.

  79.      At this time, the only New Print Shop graphics libraries supported  are
  80.      those in  the  "original" style  format  (*.POG and  *.PNM)  and  those
  81.      containing new style small graphics (*.PNG and *.PNM).
